چکیده

an inhibitory modulator of cholinergic and noradrenergic neurotransmission (Miller et al., 1999; Van Hoomissen et al., 2004; Landry et al., 2005; Hobson et al., 2006). Gal is co-localized with norepinephrine (NE) in several regions of the brain, such as locus coeruleus, bed nucleus of the stria terminalis, amygdala, cortex and hippocampus (Hokfelt et al., 1998; Kozicz, 2001; Xu et al., 2001; Holmes et al., 2002; Barrera et al., 2006; Ogren et al., 2006; Simpson et al., 2006). Gal hyperpolarizes noradrenergic locus coeruleus neurons at high concentrations (10–6-10–7 mol/L) and enhances NE-induced hyperpolarization at low concentrations (10–9 mol/L) (Hokfelt et al., 1998). It has been shown that Gal expression was regulated by NE in the magnocellular neurons of supraoptic nucleus in an ex vivo acute model of rat hypothalamic slices (Melnikova et al., 2006) and in cultured dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons Original Article Biomol Ther 19(3), 315-319(2011)

Concentration-dependent regulation of neuronal gene expression by nerve growth factor

NGF is a neurotrophic protein that promotes the survival, growth, and differentiation of developing sympathetic neurons. To directly determine the effects of different concentrations of NGF on neuronal gene expression, we examined mRNAs encoding the p75 low-affinity NGF (LNGF) receptor, T alpha 1 alpha-tubulin (T alpha 1), and tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) in pure cultures of rat sympathetic neuron...

Expression of Regulated Oncogen-Alpha by Primary Hepatocytes Following Isolation and Heat Shock Stimulation

High levels of regulated oncogen-alpha (GRO-a) expression have been observed in the liver. GRO-a stimulates proliferation of epithelial cells and induction of rolling and extravascular migration of neutrophils and mononuclear cells. Given the above observations, this chemokine was chosen to be analyzed in freshly isolated and cultured hepatocytes. In this study, hepatocytes (2×106 cell/ml) were...

Stereological Study on the Neurons of Superior Cervical Sympathetic Ganglion in Diabetic Rats

Background: Most research on autonomic dysfunction of diabetes mellitus is conducted on ganglions innervating gastrointestinal (GI) tract and there are limited works focusing on cervical sympathetic ganglia. The effects of diabetes mellitus (DM) on the neurons of superior cervical sympathetic ganglion (SCSG) are investigated by stereological methods. Material and Methods: Female rats (n=72) ran...

Nerve growth factor inhibits sympathetic neurons' response to an injury cytokine.

Axonal damage to adult peripheral neurons causes changes in neuronal gene expression. For example, axotomized sympathetic, sensory, and motor neurons begin to express galanin mRNA and protein, and recent evidence suggests that galanin plays a role in peripheral nerve regeneration. Previous studies in sympathetic and sensory neurons have established that galanin expression is triggered by two co...

Activation of alpha-2 adrenergic receptors inhibits norepinephrine release by a pertussis toxin-insensitive pathway independent of changes in cytosolic calcium in cultured rat sympathetic neurons.

Whole-cell electrophysiological studies suggest that sympathetic nerve alpha-2 adrenergic receptors are coupled to voltage-dependent N-type calcium channels through the Gi family of proteins to inhibit neurotransmitter release. Because most nerve terminals are too small for direct electrophysiological recordings, the aim of this study was to examine the relationship between alpha-2 adrenergic r...
